Once you have been invited to a trial session, you will be asked to complete a form in Online Scout Manager OSM (see below) in order for your prospective Beaver or Cub to join.
OSM is a system developed by scouts for scouts, where we store all your child’s personal details. We also use it for Camp organisation, events and some payments.
You will get an invite to join the system, where you will need to create a login & password so you will be able to access your child’s page called My.Scout. We ask that once you have accessed OSM you update your Beaver or Cub’s file with any personal details required; particularly important are any medical or health aspects that we should be aware of. Thereafter please make sure this section of OSM is kept up to date.
We use OSM to manage our Beaver and Cub Badges and for many of our communications. You will usually receive a weekly newsletter from us via OSM but you can also see what badges are being done or have been completed in OSM. Any badges that you choose to do at home (https://www.scouts.org.uk/beavers/activity-badges) please provide the evidence (photographs/documents) to the Section leaders.
The personal information of our Beavers and Cubs is retained in the Online Scout Manager (OSM) facility. Adult members fulfilling a voluntary role for 3rd Esher will also have information stored in the Scouts’ online Compass database. A copy of our Privacy Policy in relation to the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) 2018 is available on our website.
Subscriptions (or ‘subs’)
Subscriptions are paid termly (i.e., 3 payments per year) in advance. Our fees differ for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to reflect the nature of activities in each section.

We have a Hardship Policy as one of our priorities is offering an inclusive and accessible Scouting opportunity for all. Ask for a copy of the policy and application form if you want to apply for financial assistance with the cost of subs or camps.
With the availability of Gift Aid the Scout Group reclaims the tax as a recognised and registered charity in the same way as other well-known charities such as Cancer Research. The tax is reclaimed as it has already been paid through the donor’s taxed income. This means that for every £1 of subscriptions you pay, the Group is able to claim 25p.
This is obviously a very advantageous method of the Group increasing funds to put to good use in the equipment and activities that the Group provides.
